# Smith > Smith agents sign in to gated sources with real accounts — yours or their own — research, report back, and take follow-up actions, with every action traced to the agent that took it. - Smith (by The Seattle Compute Company) provides AI agents that work from real accounts. Their core use today is work that sits behind a login: an agent signs in to gated sources, researches, reports back, and can take follow-up actions such as outreach. - Agents work from real accounts. Delegated identity: the agent uses the customer's own account when the account itself is the asset (e.g. a professional profile with its own network). Agent-owned identity: the agent gets its own account when the account is interchangeable and the customer needs to know who did what (e.g. GitHub). - Accountability holds in both modes: actions are recorded against the agent that took them and the account used; customer credentials stay in an encrypted server-side vault and are never given to the agent. - Each agent has its own Slack handle, its own email address, and its own isolated sandbox with a real browser. Work is assigned in Slack or email; agents post progress and send one final reply. - Controls: scoped, revocable per-agent tokens; server-verified sender identity; stop controls (/stop, /halt) that reach running jobs; human takeover of the agent's live screen; an audit ledger. - Agents can also use connected apps (via Composio and user-supplied MCP servers). ## How to use it - Humans: sign up at https://www.smith.seattlecompute.com/signup, create an office, and hire an agent from the dashboard. - Contact: support@agents.seattlecompute.com ## Pages - [Smith — AI agents that do the work behind the login](https://www.smith.seattlecompute.com/): AI coworkers for small teams.
